Lindsay Dump Locations and Hours

The City of Kawartha Lakes operates five landfill sites in Lindsay. Each landfill has its own set of hours of operation, which vary depending on the season.

Winter Landfill Hours (October 16, 2023 – April 30, 2024)

  • Laxton/Digby Landfill: Thursday: 11am to 5pm, Sunday: 12pm to 4pm
  • Eldon Landfill: Wednesday: 9am to 5pm, Saturday: 11am to 5pm
  • Somerville Landfill: Monday: 9am to 5pm, Friday: 9am to 5pm, Saturday: 9am to 5pm
  • Fenelon Landfill: Closed
  • Lindsay Ops Landfill: Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm, Saturday: 8am to 3pm

Summer Landfill Hours (May 1, 2024 – October 15, 2024)

  • Laxton/Digby Landfill: Thursday: 11am to 5pm, Sunday: 11am to 5pm
  • Eldon Landfill: Wednesday: 9am to 5pm, Saturday: 11am to 5pm, Sunday: 11am to 5pm
  • Somerville Landfill: Monday: 11am to 5pm, Friday: 11am to 5pm, Saturday: 11am to 5pm
  • Fenelon Landfill: Monday: 9am to 5pm, Wednesday: 9am to 5pm, Saturday: 9am to 5pm

Lindsay Dump Fees

The fees for dumping waste at a Lindsay landfill vary depending on the type of waste and the quantity.

Standard Waste

  • Garbage bag (clear): $11 minimum, $135 per tonne
  • Garbage bag (opaque): $22 minimum, $270 per tonne
  • Loose waste (standard): $11 minimum, $135 per tonne

Special Waste

  • Mixed load: $22 minimum, $270 per tonne
  • Construction and demolition waste (drywall, insulation, shingles, wood etc.): $11 minimum, $135 per tonne
  • Freon removal charge: $21 per item
  • Large items (couches, chairs etc.): $11 minimum, $135 per tonne
  • RV sanitary disposal (Lindsay Ops landfill only): $11
  • Institutional and commercial waste and recycling: $11 minimum, $135 per tonne
  • Leaf and yard material: Up to 250 Kg free, over is $135 per tonne
  • Mattresses or box springs (Lindsay Ops Landfill only): $16 per unit
  • Boat and bale wrap: $11 minimum, $135 per tonne
  • Asbestos (pre-approval required): $270 per tonne
  • Contaminated soil (suitable for daily cover): $52 per tonne
  • Contaminated soil (not suitable for daily cover): $11 minimum, $135 per tonne

Tips for Visiting the Lindsay Dump

  • Arrive at the landfill during operating hours.
  • Follow the instructions of the landfill attendant.
  • Separate recyclable materials from waste.
  • Pay the appropriate tipping fee.
  • Dispose of waste in the designated areas.
  • Leave the landfill clean and tidy.

Additional Information

  • The Lindsay landfills are closed on New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and Canada Day.
  • Landfill sites scheduled to operate on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve will only be open from 8am to 12pm.
  • Cash is not accepted at the landfills.
  • Debit, Visa, and Mastercard are accepted.
