Note: The Transfer Station follows the same schedule as the Public Schools. When Public Schools are closed or delayed due to inclement weather, the Transfer Station will be closed or delayed. This includes Saturdays due to snow removal.

Bethel Transfer/Recycling Station Permits
Only residents with a current Town of Bethel Transfer Station permit are allowed to use the facility. Permits are renewed every January. To obtain an annual permit, you can either:
- Visit the Town Clerk’s office
- Fill out the online permit application here
Permits will be mailed to you beginning on December 15th.
Bethel Transfer/Recycling Station Accepted Materials
The Bethel Transfer/Recycling Station accepts a wide range of materials, including:
- Household garbage
- Used oil
- Junk metal products
- Recyclables (paper, plastic, glass, metal cans)
- Car batteries
- Tires
- Refrigerated units (a.c., refrigerators, freezers)
- Ballasts
- Computer equipment (keyboards, vcrs, dvd players, etc.)

Note: Bulk Waste (mattresses, couches, etc.) is no longer accepted as of November 1, 2005, and must be taken to any County Facility.
Bethel Transfer/Recycling Station Fees
The Bethel Transfer/Recycling Station charges a fee for certain materials, including:
- Household garbage: $2.50 up to a 30-gallon bag or 2 coupons
- Anything larger than a 30-gallon bag: $5.00 or 2 coupons
- Refrigerated units: $10.00
- Tires: Small fee
Note: Coupons can be purchased in books of 15 for $30.00 at the Town Hall (cash, check, or credit card) or Transfer Station (check or cash).
