Are you looking for a convenient and affordable way to dispose of brush and leaves in San Antonio? Look no further than the Bitters Brush Recycling Center! This facility accepts residential brush and leaves for recycling into mulch.

Hours of Operation:

The Bitters Brush Recycling Center is open seven days a week, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Fees:

• Residential:
  • 20 lbs. or less: $0.25
  • Over 20 lbs.: $0.25 per each increment of 20 lbs.
• Non-Residential:
  • Less than 2,000 lbs.: $25.00
  • More than 2,000 lbs.: $25.00 plus $25.00 per each additional ton.

Accepted Materials:

• Paper bagged leaves (no plastic tape)
• Shrubs
• Tree branches
• Woody Vines

Unaccepted Materials:

• Bulky household items
• Car tires
• Construction, roofing, or demolition material
• Grass clippings
• Household hazardous waste
• Plastic bagged leaves*
• Soil & rocks
• Trash

Tarp Law:

If you are using a city disposal or processing center, you must use a tarp to cover your vehicle. A $5 penalty will be assessed for customers not in compliance.

Purchasing Mulch:

• Fine ground mulch: $0.03 per pound in increments of 20 pounds. Bulk loading into a truck or trailer provided with this fee.
• Coarse ground mulch: Free year-round
• Christmas tree mulch: Free and only available for a limited time after January 1st. Loading of coarse ground and Christmas tree mulch is not provided.

Additional Information:

• Residents must bring a recent copy of their CPS Energy Bill showing payment of the Environmental Fee, and a photo ID.
• Commercial loads are not accepted at the Bitters Brush Recycling Center.
• The Nelson Garden/Atlas Organics Brush Recycling Center is now managed and operated by Atlas Organics. It is located at 8963 Nelson Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78252. They are open 8 am-5pm, Monday thru Saturday and closed on Sundays. This facility does accept commercial loads. Residents who take their CPS bill and matching ID will pay the residential rate. If not, then they will charge the commercial rate. The residential rate is for small loads, large loads are charged commercial rates even if they are residential.
