Hours of Operation:

• Wednesdays and Saturdays: 8 AM – 12 PM
• Closed on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and major holidays.

Accepted Materials:

• Household trash
• Recyclables (plastics #1 and #2 only)
• Yard waste
• Construction and demolition debris
• White goods (appliances)
• Scrap metal
• Tires

Fees:

• Household trash: $10 per bag or container
• Recyclables: Free
• Yard waste: $5 per cubic yard
• Construction and demolition debris: $20 per cubic yard
• White goods: $10 per item
• Scrap metal: $5 per item
• Tires: $5 per tire

Additional Information:

• Residents are limited to 4 bags or containers of trash per week.
• Containers must be approved by Grayson County Public Works and cannot be over 32 inches tall.
• Individual containers and bags may not weigh over 40 pounds.
• Containers or bags should be placed 3-4 feet from the edge of the public road by 7:30 AM on collection days.
• Grayson County Public Works is closed on the following holidays:
  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Holiday and Inclement Weather Policy:

• If Grayson County Public Works is closed due to a holiday or inclement weather, trash collection will be delayed by one day.
• Announcements of closures will be made on the following radio stations by 7:00 AM:
  • Galax radio station 98.1 WBRF
  • Marion radio station 93.9 WMEV

Recycling Program:

Grayson County Public Works offers a recycling program for plastics #1 and #2. Recyclables can be dropped off at the Public Works building on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 AM – 12 PM.

Large Item Solid Waste Collection Schedule:

Grayson County Public Works offers a large item solid waste collection service on the following schedule:

• January: 2nd and 4th weeks
• February: 1st and 3rd weeks
• March: 2nd and 4th weeks
• April: 1st and 3rd weeks
• May: 2nd and 4th weeks
• June: 1st and 3rd weeks
• July: 2nd and 4th weeks
• August: 1st and 3rd weeks
• September: 2nd and 4th weeks
• October: 1st and 3rd weeks
• November: 2nd and 4th weeks
• December: 1st and 3rd weeks
