Load Inspections

All residents and commercial users of City landfill sites must separate recyclable items from waste. Household hazardous waste should never be put into your garbage or recycling. For the safety and health of our community, wildlife, and environment, it must be disposed of at household hazardous waste depots. There is no charge for this service (residents only).

• Lindsay Ops Landfill: 51 Wilson Road, Lindsay

When you drop off household hazardous waste materials, they must be:

• Clearly labelled
• In original packaging
• Tightly contained with no visible leaks
• Less than 15L each (liquids)

Examples of household hazardous waste include:

• Automotive products (antifreeze, autobody filler, automotive batteries – lead acid, brake fluid, carburetor cleaner, car wax with solvent, chrome polish, engine degreaser, fuel additives, gasoline (in ULC approved container), oil filters, starter fluids, transmission fluid, used motor oil, windshield washer fluid)
• Batteries (all types of household batteries are accepted. Note: Lithium-ion phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are not accepted at Landfills and the manufacturer will need to be contacted.)
• Paints and solvents (acetone, empty containers, latex and oil paint, marine paint, paint thinner and paint stripper, spray paint (full or empty aerosol cans), varnish or lacquer)
• Household products (aerosol products (full or empty), all-purpose cleaners, ammonia, bleach and disinfectants, floor wax strippers, fryer oil)
