Peoria County Landfill Hours
The Peoria County Landfill is located at 11501 W Cottonwood Rd, Edwards, Illinois. The landfill is open to the public during the following hours:
- Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
Free Residential Dumping Policy
Peoria County residents are eligible to dispose of one load of residential refuse per week at the Peoria City/County Landfill at no cost. To qualify for the free load program, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a resident of Peoria County.
- You must provide a current Illinois Driver’s License, Illinois Identification Card, or a current picture ID listing a Peoria County address.
- Your load must weigh less than 580 pounds.
- Your load must be tarped or tied down.
The following items are NOT eligible for the free load program:
- Building materials, including wood, drywall, floor tiles, and concrete.
- Construction debris
- Demolition debris
- Siding
- Windows
- Roofing materials
Fees for Non-Residential Loads
If you are not a Peoria County resident or your load does not meet the requirements for the free load program, you will be charged a fee to dispose of your waste. The fees are as follows:
- Municipal solid waste: $45 per ton
- Construction and demolition debris: $55 per ton
- Yard waste: $25 per ton
Other Services Offered at the Landfill
In addition to accepting waste for disposal, the Peoria County Landfill also offers the following services:
- Recycling drop-off: Residents can drop off recyclable materials, such as paper, plastic, metal, and glass, at the landfill’s recycling center.
- Household hazardous waste disposal: Residents can dispose of household hazardous waste, such as paint, pesticides, and batteries, at the landfill’s household hazardous waste collection center.
- Compost sales: The landfill sells compost, which is a natural soil amendment that can improve the health of your lawn and garden.
