Solid Waste and Recycling
If you’re a resident of Fulton County, Georgia, and need to dispose of waste, it’s essential to be aware of the dump hours and other relevant information. This article will provide you with all the details you need to know to ensure a smooth and efficient waste disposal process.
Merk Miles Transfer Station
The Merk Miles Transfer Station is a solid waste “convenience center” operated by Fulton County for the benefit of the general public. It allows residents to dispose of unwanted household municipal solid waste.

Hours of Operation:
- Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Sunday and Monday: Closed
Residential & Bulk Collections
For residential waste collection, each household is assigned a specific day for garbage collection and a week for bulk waste. To find your collection schedule, you can use the interactive map provided by the city.
Bulk Waste:
Residents are encouraged to call to schedule bulk waste pickup. However, you can place up to two items of bulky waste or white goods at the curb no more than 48 hours before the scheduled pickup date. To schedule a pickup, call 770.554.0455 by Wednesday before your Monday service, or complete the online request form.
Additional Containers
If you need additional waste containers, you can request them by completing a request. Waste Pro will establish a billing process with you to complete the process. The cost for additional containers is $10.17 per month.
Non-Curbside/Backdoor Service
Non-curbside or backdoor service is available for residents who are unable to place their waste containers at the curb due to physical limitations or other circumstances. To request this service, please contact the Solid Waste Coordinator.
Proper Cart Placement
To ensure efficient waste collection, it’s important to place your waste carts correctly. Here are the guidelines:
- Place the carts at the curb or designated collection area by 7:00 AM on your collection day.
- Keep the carts at least 3 feet apart and away from obstacles like mailboxes, trees, and parked cars.
- Ensure the cart lids are closed and the wheels are unlocked.
Report a Problem
If you encounter any issues with waste collection or have any concerns, you can report them through the TracEZ system. This online platform allows you to log requests or complaints quickly, which will be reviewed by the city and Waste Pro.
