Recycling Center Hours

The Village of Lake Bluff Recycling Center is located at 640 Rockland Road and offers convenient hours for residents to drop off their recyclable materials.

• Monday – Friday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Accepted Materials

The Recycling Center accepts a wide range of recyclable materials, including:

• Paper products (cardboard, newspaper, magazines, books)
• Glass bottles and jars
• Aluminum cans
• Plastic containers (showing icons #1-5 and #7)
• Yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, small quantities of brush)
• Construction/Bulk items (lumber, bricks, tile, chairs, couches)
• Metal items (grills, wagons, metal shelving)

Items Not Accepted

Please note that the following items are not accepted at the Recycling Center:

• Refrigerators/freezers
• Dehumidifiers and any other item containing CFCs
• Tires
• Propane tanks
• Paint and chemicals
• Car batteries
• Medical waste
• Chemicals/Hazardous waste
• Oil

Landfill Waste Service

In addition to the Recycling Center, the Village of Lake Bluff offers landfill waste service to residents. You can choose between two classes of service:

• Unlimited Service: Groot will collect all landfill waste presented at the curb in trash cart(s) and additional containers.
• Limited Service (Opt-In): Groot will collect only one cart of landfill waste weekly. Residents must purchase one prepaid sticker ($2) for any additional landfill waste containers.

A la Carte Services

Residents can also add the following a la carte services for a fee billed by Groot directly to the resident:

• Backdoor pickup: $13.39/mo.
• Two weekly pickups: $13.39/mo.
• Both services: $30.69/mo.

Bulky Waste and Electronic Waste

For bulky waste and electronic waste, Groot will collect one item or debris load presented on the first weekly pickup (Monday / Tuesday) for no additional fee.

Twice a year, residents have a special opportunity to dispose of multiple bulky items, including those not picked up as normal collections. The semi-annual collection dates are:

• Regular Collection Day: Monday (West of Sheridan Road)

• Semi-Annual Collection Dates: 1st Wednesday of May & October

• Regular Collection Day: Tuesday (East of Sheridan Road)

• Semi-Annual Collection Dates: 2nd Wednesday of May & October
