Marshall County Refuse Department

The Marshall County Refuse Department is responsible for the disposal of household solid waste for Marshall County residents. They operate nine transfer stations throughout the county, as well as a main facility located at 835 Benton-Briensburg Rd in Benton.

Hours of Operation

The Marshall County Refuse Department’s main facility is open:

  • Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

The transfer stations are open:

  • Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Accepted Items

The Marshall County Refuse Department accepts the following items:

  • Bagged household garbage
  • Furniture
  • Appliances
  • Computers

Not Accepted Items

The Marshall County Refuse Department does not accept the following items:

  • Hazardous chemicals
  • Building materials (such as lumber, shingles, drywall, vinyl siding, insulation, or wet paint)
  • Large items (such as boats or jet skis)

Benton KY Recycling

In addition to the Marshall County Refuse Department, there is also a Marshall County Recycling Center located at 835 Benton-Briensburg Rd in Benton. The Recycling Center accepts the following items:

Once a year, the Marshall County Refuse Department hosts a Spring Clean-up event at the main location. This is an opportunity for residents to dispose of items that are not normally accepted by the Refuse Department, such as building materials. Waste Tire Collection Program

Approximately every three years, the Marshall County Refuse Department works with the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet to collect unwanted tires for recycling. The dates for the Waste Tire Collection Program are announced closer to the event.
