Escambia County Dump Hours: Everything You Need to Know

If you’re looking to dispose of waste in Escambia County, Florida, you’ll need to know the hours of operation for the Perdido Landfill. This is the only landfill in the county that accepts residential and commercial waste.

Perdido Landfill Hours of Operation

  • Residential: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday
  • Commercial: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday

Note: Landfill customers with large loads that require manual offloading are asked to deliver loads no later than 4:30 p.m. Large loads delivered after 4:30 p.m. will need to come back the following business day.

What is Integrated Solid Waste Management?

The Perdido Landfill is an Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility. This means that it uses a series of complementary actions to reduce the amount of solid waste generated and manage the waste that is generated in an economically and environmentally sound manner.

Waste/trash at the Perdido Landfill is leveled and compacted by large bulldozers and compactors. At the end of each workday, a layer of dirt or alternative material such as mulch or ash is placed over the waste to minimize odor, litter, and allow for vector control.

The Perdido Landfill accepts the following types of waste:

  • Construction and demolition debris
  • Yard waste
  • White goods (appliances)
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Electronics
  • Hazardous waste

What Can’t I Dispose of at the Perdido Landfill?

The Perdido Landfill does not accept the following types of waste:

  • Medical waste
  • Radioactive waste
  • Explosives
  • Flammable liquids
  • Corrosive materials
  • Infectious waste
