Other Information

  • Residents are encouraged to compost their yard waste at home. If that is not possible, they may bring their yard waste to the composting area at 565 Blacksmith Shop Road.
  • Composting is the best way to manage yard waste, and in fact, Massachusetts bans the disposal of leaves and yard waste in landfills.
  • By reducing the disposal of banned materials, we also capture valuable resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save energy, and reduce our need for landfills and incinerators.
  • Residents who bring leaves in plastic bags must de-bag them and properly dispose of or reuse the bags. Paper leaf bags are recommended and may be left to compost.
  • Screened Compost and Wood Chips are available for residents to pick up, free of charge, during hours of operation. “Public Compost” and “Wood Chips” signs indicate which stockpiles are for public use.
  • Only Cars and Pick-up Trucks are allowed access. No Dump Trucks, Dump Trailers, or Stake Body Trucks allowed.
