Pill Hill Dump Hours

The Pill Hill Recycling Center is open on weekends only, with varying hours depending on the season:

• Saturdays:
  • 8 AM – 4 PM (November through March)
  • 8 AM – 5 PM (April through October)
• Sundays:
  • 12 PM – 4 PM (April, May, June, October, and November)

Who Can Use the Pill Hill Dump?

The Pill Hill Recycling Center is open to residents of Bernards Township with the following tax codes: 2, 3A, and 4C. To obtain a permit card for access, visit the Bernards Township Public Works Office at 277 South Maple Ave, Basking Ridge, from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Proof of ownership is required.

Fees and Credits

The permit card comes with four (4) credits per calendar year for disposing of bulky household waste, such as furniture, mattresses, and carpeting. The minimum number of credits charged per visit is one. Here’s a breakdown of the credit usage:

• Car or Station Wagon: 1 Credit
• MiniVan, Small Trailer: 2 Credits
• Small Pickup: 2 Credits
• Full Size Pickups: 4 Credits

Partial credits may be charged if the gate attendant determines that the material delivered constitutes half or less of the vehicle’s capacity.

No credits are charged for the following items:

• Aluminum Cans
• Aluminum & non-ferrous scrap
• Leaves, brush, wood waste
• Computer, high grade white and mixed office paper
• Corrugated cardboard
• Glass containers
• Heavy iron
• Newsprint
• Plastic containers such as soda bottles
• Tires ($5 charge, $10 with rim)
• White goods & light iron
• Computers and Electronics
• TV’s ($16.00 charge has been waived until further notice)

Additional credits can be purchased at the Pill Hill Facility for $60 per credit. Lost cards will be replaced for a fee of $20.00, payable by check to Bernards Township.

• Leaves, brush, and other yard trimmings (excluding grass clippings)
• Wood waste (in a form that can be chipped, tied in bundles, and no more than 12 inches in diameter)
• Normal bulky household items (toys, appliances, lawnmowers, bicycles, etc.)

• Grass Clippings, Stumps
• Asbestos & Asphalt Shingles
• Insulation
• Latex, Water or Oil Based Paint
• Antifreeze, Transmission & Brake Fluids
• Concrete, Brick, Concrete Blocks
• Bituminous Concrete/Dirt Mothballs/Disinfectants
• Fuel Tanks of any type of Propane Tanks
• Fuels, Floor & Furniture Polish
• Car Batteries, Food Products
• Junk Cars, Common Household Garbage
• Diapers Railroad Ties
• Fluorescent Bulbs

Additional Information

• Only one permit card will be issued per Block & Lot.
• Permit Cards are linked to the property owners block and lot and will be automatically renewed in January.
• Permit Cards will be automatically voided once the property is sold.
• Permit Cards may be issued to renters upon proof of authorization from the property owner.
• No commercial vehicles are allowed except those owned by the resident.
• Vehicles larger than a pickup are not allowed.
• All residents must possess and present their permit card to enter the facility.
