Braintree Recycling Centre Hours
The Braintree Recycling Centre is open every day of the week, with varying hours depending on the time of year.
- 16 October to end of February: 9am to 4pm
- 1 March to 15 October: 9am to 5pm
The centre is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 1pm, and on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
What You Can Bring to the Braintree Recycling Centre
The Braintree Recycling Centre accepts a wide range of recyclable materials, including:
- Paper and cardboard
- Plastic bottles, tubs, and pots
- Glass bottles and jars
- Metal cans and foil
- Batteries
- Textiles
- Small electrical items
You can also bring small quantities of DIY and construction waste to the centre, providing you have completed the work yourself and it is from your own household. This includes:
- Soil, hardcore, or gypsum-based products (up to three wheelbarrow loads)
- Tiles (up to one wheelbarrow load)
- Ceramic items (up to three large items)
- uPVC or wooden window frames (up to one)
- uPVC or wooden doors (up to one)
- Wooden internal doors (up to three)
- Elements of a built-in kitchen (any)
What You Cannot Bring to the Braintree Recycling Centre
The following items cannot be taken to any ECC recycling centre. You must arrange a separate collection or disposal of these items:
- Asbestos
- Business waste
- Chemical waste
- Clinical waste
- Dead animals
- Fireworks, ammunition, and explosives
- Fuel
- Gas cylinders
- Japanese knotweed
- Ragwort
How to Book a Slot at the Braintree Recycling Centre
You need to book a slot in advance to visit the Braintree Recycling Centre in a car, van, pick-up, or vehicle towing a large trailer. You can book a slot online or by calling the centre on 0345 603 7637.
Blue Badge holders are not required to make a booking.
