Breedsville Dump Hours
The Breedsville dump, officially known as the Bangor Township Transfer Station & Recycling, is open to Bangor Township residents only. It is not available for commercial use. To access the dump, you must bring your resident verification card.
Winter Hours (October – April):
- Every 1st & 3rd Saturday
- 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Summer Hours (May – September):
- Every Saturday
- 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

The Breedsville dump accepts a wide range of acceptable materials, including:
- Construction & Demolition Debris
- Processed CDD & Fines
- Biomass & Fossil Fuel Boiler Ash
- Municipal Clean Wood Burn Ash
- Wood Boiler Ash
- Municipal Waste Incinerator Ash
- Biomedical Incinerator Ash
- Water Treatment Plant Sludge
- Pulp & Paper Sludge
- Sand Blast Grit
- Oil Contaminated Soil
- Urban Fill Soil
- Oily Debris
- Certain Leather Tanning Wastes
- Laundry Sludge
- Catch Basis Grit
- Contaminated Wood Chips
- Non-Hazardous Chemicals (no liquids)
- Oversized Bulky Waste
- Pigeon Waste
- Air & Water Filtration Media (as long as no hazardous chemicals ran through)
- Universal Waste
- Any special waste that has prior approval through the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MDEP)
Unacceptable Materials
Please note that the following materials are not accepted at the Breedsville dump:
- Any material classified as “Hazardous” Waste
- Paints
- Chemicals
- Any liquid waste
- Waste oil
- Medical-related waste
- Pathological waste
- Dead animals
- Abandoned or junk vehicles
- Tree stumps
- Telephone poles greater than 6 feet long
- Railroad ties greater than 6 feet long
- Metal panels greater than 8 feet long
- Friable asbestos materials
- Pesticides
- Sealed drums
- Pressurized gas cylinders & tanks (partially full or empty)
- Hot ashes
- Washer machines
- Dryers
- Stoves/ranges
- Dishwashers
- Microwaves
- Items containing CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) or HCFCs (hydro chlorofluorocarbons) such as:
- Refrigerators
- Air Conditioners
- Freezers
- Dehumidifiers
- Water Coolers
- Other refrigerated items
- Odiferous waste
- Wastewater sludge
- Front-end process residue (FEPR)
- Any waste material not receiving prior approval from Environmental Compliance Manager

Additional Tips
- All loads must be secured with tarps or coverings and tied in place.
- Entering and leaving residents must drive onto the scales (center lane) to weigh in and out and pay the tipping fee.
- At the railroad track, entering and leaving traffic must stop, look both ways, and listen for a train whistle before crossing.
- After crossing the railroad track, follow the signs to the appropriate dumping area.
- Children must remain in the vehicle.
- No dump picking is allowed.
