Transfer Station Hours
The Burlington-Lowell Transfer Station operates on the following schedule:
Summer Hours (After the last Sunday in May through August 30th)
- Wednesday: 12 pm – 4 pm
- Saturday: 8 am – 4 pm
- Sunday: 2 pm – 6 pm
Winter Hours (First Sunday in September through the last Sunday in May)
- Wednesday: 12 pm – 4 pm
- Saturday: 8 am – 4 pm

Fees
To dispose of trash at the transfer station, you must have a valid BLT sticker. Stickers are available for purchase at the Burlington Town Office for residents of Burlington, Lowell, Grandfalls TWP, Summit TWP, and Hancock County Unorganized Territories T3 ND, T4 ND (OQITON), and T41 MD North of Gassabias Stream.
The following fees apply for disposal:
Demolition Debris/Brush & Lumber
- Car Load, Small Van/Wagon: $5.00/Load
- Pickup, Utility Trailer (4×8) or smaller: $15.00/Load
- 1 Ton Dump Truck or trailer larger than (4×8) or up to (6×12): $25.00/Load
- 5-7-yard Dump Truck: $50.00/Load
Furniture Upholstered and/or Stuffed
- Chairs & Ottomans: $5.00/Load
- Couches & Mattresses: $15.00/Load
- Large Load: $25.00/Load
Accepted Items
The Burlington-Lowell Transfer Station accepts the following items:
- Demolition debris
- Brush and lumber
- Furniture (upholstered and/or stuffed)
Items Not Accepted
The following items are not accepted at the transfer station:
- Heavy truck or equipment tires or tires on rims
- Paint (unused paint can be taken for disposal to Aubuchon Hardware and S.W. Collins in Lincoln)
- Asbestos
- Concrete
- Sheet Rock
- Asphalt Shingles
- Dead Animals
- Medical/Human Waste
Additional Information
- The attendant will define your load and collect the appropriate fee.
- A receipt will be issued for all transactions.
- Salvage of any transfer site material is not permitted.
- Trash must be generated in Burlington or Lowell, with exceptions for contracted landowners from Penobscot and Hancock Counties Unorganized Territories.
