Burnaby Eco-Centre Hours of Operation

The Burnaby Eco-Centre is open to the public Monday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please note that the Eco-Centre is closed on Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1).

Accepted Materials at the Burnaby Eco-Centre

The Burnaby Eco-Centre accepts a wide range of recyclable materials, including:

• Mixed paper (printed paper, multiple layer paper bags, boxboard boxes, corrugated cardboard, moulded boxboard, gift wrap, greeting cards)
• Mixed containers (hot and cold drink cups, gable top and Tetrapak® cartons, frozen dessert boxes, steel and aluminum containers, foil, lids, empty aerosol cans, spiral wound paper cans, plastic plant pots/trays, hard plastic packaging, lids)
• Flexible plastic (non-food protective packaging, crinkly wrappers and bags, stand-up and zipper lock pouches, flexible packaging with plastic seal, woven and net plastics, plastic bags and overwrap, squishy cushion packaging, reusable plastic-only carry-out bags, plastic drop sheets or covering, plastic shrink-wrap)
• Other (batteries, propane tanks refillable/non-refillable, butane tanks, paint, large and small scrap metal, hard plastics (non-packaging), plastic foam packaging (Styrofoam™) – residential only, plastic foam trays, plates, bowls, cups, and take-out containers, books, clothing, shoes and household textiles, used motor oil, filters, containers, flammable liquids and pesticides, cooking oil, antifreeze, cell phones, glass jars and bottles, electronics, e toys, small appliances, power tools, electric outdoor power equipment)

Materials Not Accepted at the Burnaby Eco-Centre

Please note that the Burnaby Eco-Centre does not accept the following materials:

• Mattresses
• Furniture
• Garbage

Green Waste Drop-Off at the Burnaby Eco-Centre

In addition to recycling, the Burnaby Eco-Centre also offers green waste drop-off services. Accepted green waste materials include:

• Grass clippings & leaves
• Small branches (up to 4” diameter)
• Plants & flowers
• Clean wood (no construction waste, plywood or glue laminates)

Please note that green waste must be unbagged and unbundled. Residents can drop off up to 100 kg of green waste per day for free. Charges apply for entire loads over 100 kg.

Commercial Green Waste Restrictions

Commercial landscapers are not permitted to drop off green waste at the Burnaby Eco-Centre from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Vehicle Size Restrictions

Please be aware of the following vehicle size restrictions when visiting the Burnaby Eco-Centre:

• Maximum gross vehicle weight: 7,500 kg
• Maximum vehicle length: 7.6 m (25 ft)
• Maximum vehicle with trailer combined length: 9.1 m (30 ft)
