Calcasieu Parish Dump Hours of Operation: What You Need to Know

If you’re a resident of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, and need to dispose of large or irregular items, you can take them to one of two convenient Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers. These centers are free to use and open to all Calcasieu residents with a valid driver’s license.

Here are the locations and hours of operation for the two centers:

Both centers are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Before you go to a convenience center, there are a few things you need to know:

• You must be a resident of Calcasieu Parish.
• You must have a valid driver’s license.
• You can only dispose of residential solid waste. Commercial/industrial waste is not allowed.
• Your waste must fit in the waste containers provided.
• You must pick up any litter or debris that falls from your load.
• Scavenging is not allowed.
• There is a five-tire-per-day limit. Rims must be removed.
• Paint cans must be open and dry.
• Motors, tanks, and cans must be drained.
• Animal carcasses must be double-bagged.
• White goods must be freon-free, and doors must be removed for safety.
• Recyclables must be sorted appropriately.

The following items are not accepted at the convenience centers:

• Asbestos siding
• Medical waste
• Automotive oils, grease, or antifreeze
• Boats (unless cut up to fit in a box)

The convenience centers can accept the following items for recycling:

• Metal: Aluminum cans, tin and steel cans, empty aerosol cans, bicycles, fence posts, bed frames, metal roofing, and miscellaneous metal pieces.
• Paper: Brown paper bags, newspaper and junk mail, catalogs, magazines, phone books, computer/copier paper, envelopes, and cardboard/chipboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc.).
• Plastic: Plastic bottles and jugs.
• Batteries: Deep cycle/automotive type.

The convenience centers can accept the following items for disposal, but not for recycling:

• Aluminum foil
• Small batteries
• Glass, ceramics, porcelain
• Light bulbs
• Painted or treated wood
• Paper towels
• Plastic grocery bags (please return them to your supermarket)
• Plastic wrap
• Styrofoam
