The operating hours of the Escondido dump, also known as the Escondido Disposal Transfer Station, are as follows:

  • The transfer station is open to the public every day from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. [1].

Please note that the transfer station is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day [1].

It’s important to mention that the Escondido Disposal Transfer Station accepts various items for disposal, including batteries, sharps, clean, broken-down cardboard, and appliances (for a fee) [1]. However, there are certain items that are not accepted at the transfer station, such as tires and hazardous waste. For tire disposal, you can contact Big-O-Tires at (760) 741-2076 or Discount Tires at (760) 741-9805. For hazardous waste disposal, you can call (760) 745-3203 [1].

If you are a City of Escondido resident, you can drop off batteries, sharps, and clean, broken-down cardboard during normal business hours at the 1021 W. Mission Ave entrance, between Metcalf and Rock Springs Rd, across the street from U-Haul [1].

For household hazardous waste disposal, the City of Escondido offers a program for its residents. You can use the Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Site operated by Escondido Disposal, located at 1044 West Washington Avenue in Escondido. The facility is open two Saturdays per month, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for City residents and 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. for County residents [2].
