Garner Dump Hours

The Garner Convenience Center is located at 1101 Timber Drive, Garner, NC 27529. Its hours of operation are as follows:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Sunday: Closed

Please note that the Garner Convenience Center is closed on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Acceptable Items

The Garner Convenience Center accepts a wide range of household waste items, including:

  • Cardboard (clean, flattened, all packing material removed)
  • Clothing and shoes (clean, dry, and reusable)
  • Electronics (on weekends only)
  • Food waste (Sites 2, 4, 7, & 8 only)
  • Garbage (household waste and bulky items under 8 feet long/wide)
  • Household construction debris from homeowners only (Sites 1, 2, 4, 7, 10 & 11 only)
  • Mattresses (limit 2 mattresses and 2 box springs per day per person)
  • Mixed recycling (metal food & drink cans, glass bottles & jars, mixed paper, food and beverage cartons, plastic bottles, tubs, jugs & jars)
  • Oyster shells
  • Scrap metal (power equipment must be drained of gas & oil)

Unacceptable Items

The Garner Convenience Center does not accept the following items:

  • Appliances/white goods, such as a/c units, washers/dryers, stoves, refrigerators, and water heaters
  • Automotive, such as antifreeze, motor oil, oil filters
  • Batteries
  • Boat hulls and any other over-sized items that do not fit in Convenience Center containers
  • Burning or smoldering material
  • Chemicals, such as acids, bases, solvents, lacquers, paint thinners, paints, fertilizers, pesticides, poisons, corrosives
  • Commercial, industrial, institutional waste, waste from businesses
  • Concrete, bricks, pavers
  • Contractor waste
  • Cooking Oil
  • Dead animals
  • Drums, such as burn barrels containing debris are not accepted. Drums that are empty and punctured are accepted for disposal at Convenience Centers
  • Electronics, any corded electronic device
  • Flammables, such as gas, fuel, oil, kerosene
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Hazardous waste, such as chemicals, batteries, oil-based paints, fire extinguishers, mercury thermometers
  • Hot tubs and any other over-sized items that do not fit in Convenience Center containers
  • Infectious waste, medical waste
  • Liquid waste, companies capable of properly disposing of this waste can be found in online/phone book under “Hazardous Materials and Waste Contractors.” If the product is not hazardous, please refer to the manufacturer’s directions for proper disposal suggestions
  • Motor oil
  • Paint
  • Propane tanks
  • Radioactive waste, such as smoke detectors
  • Railroad ties
  • Sewage plant sludge
  • Tires
  • Yard waste, such as grass clippings, branches, pruning’s, weeds, logs

Site Rules

To ensure the safety and efficiency of the Garner Convenience Center, please follow these site rules:

  • Construction waste is only accepted from Wake County homeowners only. Construction debris is NOT accepted from renters, haulers, or contractors/businesses (unless Wake County homeowner is present at the time of disposal).
  • Wake County residents using a box truck, dual-axle, or enclosed trailer to dispose of their trash at Convenience Centers will require a trash pass. Click here to apply: https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/waste-recycling/facilities/trash-pass
  • Waste from income properties is not accepted at Convenience Centers.
  • No exchange of materials allowed on site.
  • All open-body vehicles transporting waste must be secured to prevent blown and spilled debris.
  • No person may loiter or rummage about the facility or remove articles from any containers. Violators will be prosecuted.
  • Children & pets must remain in vehicles at all times.
