City of Grand Rapids Drop-Off Site Hours

  • April through Mid-December: Monday – Saturday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Winter Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Note: The site is closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Acceptable Materials at the Drop-Off Site

The following materials are accepted at the drop-off site:

  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Brush
  • Twigs (less than two inches in diameter)
  • Garden plants

Unacceptable Materials:

  • Sod
  • Dirt
  • Stones
  • Broken concrete
  • Trees
  • Tree limbs
  • Logs
  • Railroad ties
  • Stumps
  • Animal feces and dead animals

Proof of Residency

To use the drop-off site, Grand Rapids residents must provide proof of residency. This can be done by showing a valid driver’s license or utility bill with a Grand Rapids address.

Yard Waste Collection Services

In addition to the drop-off site, the City of Grand Rapids offers curbside yard waste collection services. These services are available from early April through mid-December. Residents can choose from the following options:

  • Yard Waste Cart: A 96-gallon cart specifically designed for yard waste. The cart costs $27.50 to order and requires a yellow Yard Waste Tag for each collection. Tags are $6.00 each.
  • Yard Waste Paper Bag: Paper bags are available for purchase at City Hall or select supermarkets. Each bag can hold up to 30 pounds of yard waste.
  • Yard Waste Bulk Tag: Purple tags can be used for bundles of larger twigs or branches. Tags cost $2.50 each.

Bulk Item and Appliance Collection

For items that are too large to fit in your trash can, the City of Grand Rapids offers bulk item and appliance collection services. These services are available by appointment and require a fee. Items that require a bulk item sticker include:
