If you’re a resident of Stephenville, Texas, and need to dispose of waste or recyclables, the Stephenville Landfill is the place to go. Here’s everything you need to know about the landfill’s hours, accepted materials, and fees:
Landfill Hours
The Stephenville Landfill is open Tuesday through Saturday, with different hours depending on the season:
- Summer Hours (June through August): 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Standard Hours (September through May): 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
The landfill is closed on the following holidays:
- July 4th
- Thanksgiving Day
- Friday after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
Accepted Materials
The Stephenville Landfill accepts a variety of waste and recyclable materials, including:
- Regular rubbish: This includes household waste, such as food scraps, paper products, and packaging.
- Brush/construction demolition waste: This includes yard waste, such as leaves and grass clippings, as well as construction and demolition debris, such as wood, metal, and drywall.
- Passenger tires: These are tires from cars and light trucks.
- Truck tires: These are tires from heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Tractor tires: These are tires from tractors and other farm equipment.
Fees
The Stephenville Landfill charges different fees for different types of waste:
- Per ton: $65
- Minimum (up to 800 lbs): $25
- Pull Off: $25 per each
- Inadequate Containment: Fee doubles
- Woodchip Mulch: $10 per cubic yard; or $20 per pick-up bed
- Passenger Tires: $5 per each
- Truck Tires: $15 per each
- Tractor Tires: $50 per each
Additional Information
- Vehicles with inadequate containment of waste will be charged double the current rate.
- Loads must be covered and will be assessed at the gate.
- Hazardous waste, grease trapping, septic tank pumping, and all wastes prohibited by the TCEQ for Type IV Landfills is strictly prohibited.
Recycling Opportunities
In addition to waste disposal, the Stephenville Landfill also offers recycling opportunities for the following materials:
- Aluminum cans
- Mixed paper
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Cardboard
Electronics Recycling

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
The City of Stephenville has an agreement with the City of Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center to allow Stephenville residents to drop off household hazardous waste items all year long at no cost. For more information on this program, please visit the city’s website.
