Are you tired of having junk piling up in your home or yard? Do you want to dispose of it responsibly without harming the environment? If so, then the Lac Courte Oreilles Recycling Center is the perfect place for you.
The Lac Courte Oreilles Recycling Center is a revenue, Tribally funded, and grant-funded program open to the public that manages most solid waste disposal for the area. The focus is to safely and properly manage the disposal of recycling, garbage, and household hazardous waste for the reservation.
The Lac Courte Oreilles Recycling Center accepts a wide variety of materials, including:
- Aluminum cans
- Antifreeze
- Cables, ink cartridges, and software
- Calculators
- Cell phones
- CFLs and fluorescent tubes
- Clear, brown, and green glass containers
- Corrugated cardboard
- CPUs (hard drives will be shredded)
- Keyboards and mouse
- Laptops (hard drives will be shredded)
- Laundry detergent containers
- Magazines
- Office paper
- Oil filters
- Paint
- Plastic containers #1 and #2 (remove ring and lid)
- Sharps and medical waste (in safe containers)
- Used oil (do not mix)
The Lac Courte Oreilles Recycling Center does not accept the following materials:
- Ammunition
- Asbestos
- Mercury
- Explosive material
- Radioactive material
- Household hazardous wastes, pesticides, and herbicides
- Shingles
- Ashes
- Stained glass (contains lead)
- Yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, weeds)
- Woody debris (brush, root balls, stumps, trees, etc.)
The Lac Courte Oreilles Recycling Center is located at 10085 N Round Lake School House Road, Hayward, WI 54843. The hours of operation are Thursday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
