Lethbridge Waste & Recycling Centre (Landfill)

Drop-off Depots
The City of Lethbridge provides three drop-off depots for residents to dispose of recyclables and yard waste. The depots are located at the following addresses:
- West Depot: 296 Bridge Dr. W, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4L9
- North Depot: 2200 Stafford Dr. N, Lethbridge, AB T1H 5E2
- South Depot: 2665 28 Ave. S, Lethbridge, AB T1K 7J6
Hours of Operation:
- Recycling Stations: Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Yard Waste Areas: Closed for the season
What Materials Are Accepted?
The Lethbridge Waste & Recycling Centre accepts a wide range of materials, including:
- Garbage
- Recyclables (paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass)
- Yard waste
- Household hazardous waste
- E-waste
- Paint
- Oil
The drop-off depots accept the following materials:
- Recycling Stations:
- Cardboard
- Bagged shredded paper
- Glass
- Bagged plastic bags
- Paper
- Aluminum and tin cans and foil
- Plastics with a number 1 through 7 recycling symbol
- Yard Waste Areas:
- Branches (max. 6’ in length, 8″ in diameter; no elm tree prunings)
- Leaves
- Clean pumpkins (not painted)
- Grass
- Garden trimmings (including weeds)
- Fallen fruit (removed from tree branches)
What Materials Are Not Accepted?
The Lethbridge Waste & Recycling Centre does not accept the following materials:
- Radioactive waste
- Explosives
- Medical waste
- Asbestos
- Tires
- Batteries
The drop-off depots do not accept the following materials:
- Recycling Stations:
- Dirty cardboard (ex. pizza boxes)
- Aluminum foil
- Styrofoam (even if it has a recycling symbol)
- Wet or dirty paper (ex. paper drink cups)
- Dirty glass
- Light bulb, porcelain or ceramics
- Household hazardous waste (HHW)
- Yard Waste Areas:
- Branches greater than 8 inches in diameter
- Elm tree prunings*
- Loose loads of leaves and grass
- Loads containing garbage
- Commercial vehicles
- Roots balls and stumps
- Lumber and fence posts
- Branches longer than 6 feet
- Sod and dirt
- Oversized bags larger than 30 gallons
- Dumped loads or hydraulic trailers
- Materials from eaves trough cleaning
- Mixed loads
Fees
There is a fee for disposing of garbage at the Lethbridge Waste & Recycling Centre. The fee is based on the weight of the garbage.
There is no fee for disposing of recyclables or yard waste at the drop-off depots.
