Landfill Hours and Fees

The Newton County Landfill is located at 205 Lower River Road, Covington, GA 30016. It is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:15 PM. The landfill is closed on Sundays and most major holidays.

The landfill accepts household trash, furniture, appliances, cardboard, metal, yard trimmings, construction and remodeling materials, and tires (up to 10 per week for Newton County residents).

The landfill fees are as follows:

  • Minimum fee: $30.00 (includes the first 1,080 pounds)
  • Tipping fee: $56.00 per ton

Convenience Center Hours and Fees

Newton County also operates six convenience centers located throughout the county. These centers accept household garbage, bulk waste, and recyclables.

The convenience centers are open Tuesday through Friday from Noon to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The centers are closed on Sundays, Mondays, and most major holidays.

To access the convenience centers, residents must purchase a vehicle hang tag for $85. The hang tags are valid for one year and can be purchased online, in person at the Newton County Historic Courthouse, or by mail.

Special Days for Household Electronics and Paint

On the first Saturday of each month, the Newton County Landfill hosts a special event for the disposal of household electronics and unwanted paint. Residents can bring up to 10 gallons of paint per household per month.
