The Port Charlotte Landfill is located at 29751 Zemel Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33955. It is open to the public from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Saturday, 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Customers who hand-unload their waste must enter the landfill 30 minutes before closing time.
Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facilities Hours
The Mid-County Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility is located at 19765 Kenilworth Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL, and the West Charlotte Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility is located at 7070 Environmental Way, Englewood, FL. Both facilities are open from Tuesday to Saturday, with gates opening at 9:00 a.m. and closing at 3:45 p.m. All unloading of waste must be completed by 4:00 p.m.
Allowable Items at Port Charlotte Dump and Mini-Transfer Facilities
Landfill:
- Construction and demolition debris (limited quantities)
- Tires with or without rims (22-inch maximum)
- Furniture and refuse (limited quantities)
- Residential yard trimmings (specific size and weight restrictions)
Mini-Transfer Facilities:
- Recycling (plastics, cardboard, paper, glass, aluminum, steel cans, scrap metals)
- Special wastes (cooking oil, household hazardous waste, lead-acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, paints, pesticides, motor oils, used oil filters, hypodermic needles)
- Allowable items with limitations (construction and demolition debris, tires, furniture, refuse, residential yard trimmings)
Prohibited Items at Port Charlotte Dump and Mini-Transfer Facilities

Fees and Regulations
Landfill Tipping Fees:
- County Residents: $39.28 per ton (minimum charge of $5)
- Out-of-County: $78.54 per ton (minimum charge of $17)
- Tires: $125.46 per ton in-county and $141.82 per ton out-of-county
- Asbestos: $109.10 per ton (in-county asbestos only)
- Special Handling: $50 per event
Mini-Transfer Facilities:
- Residents are allowed 12 free visits per fiscal year (October 1-September 30).
- Proof of county residency is required.
- Recycling and household hazardous waste do not count towards the 12 visits.
Additional Information
- Businesses can only participate in the county’s recycling program at the Mini-Transfer Facilities.
