Rome Transfer Site Hours of Operation
The Rome Transfer Site is open to the public during the following hours:
- Memorial Day to Labor Day (summer):
- Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Memorial Day to Labor Day ONLY: Open Mondays from 8:00am – 12:00pm
- Labor Day to Memorial Day (winter):
- Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
The Transfer Site is CLOSED on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day (when the holiday falls on a Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday). The Transfer Site is open on Memorial Day and Labor Day from 8:00am-12:00pm.
What Materials Are Accepted at the Rome Transfer Site?
The Rome Transfer Site accepts a wide variety of materials, including:
- Household garbage: Place in the compactor only, unless instructed by the attendant to use the miscellaneous container.
- Wood products: All wood products and other construction waste materials must be placed in the miscellaneous (open top) containers.
- Yard waste/compost: Yard waste consists of leaves, pine needles, grass clippings and garden waste. Do not mix with any other items. Yard waste shall be free and clear of all plastics, stones, branches, plastic bags, etc. Yard waste will be accepted year-round on any day the Transfer Site is open. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE MATERIAL IN PLASTIC BAGS – EMPTY THE BAGS AND THROW THEM AWAY.
- Batteries, oil, etc.: An area to dispose of used oil, oil filters, oil absorbents, automotive batteries and anti-freeze is provided. These items are accepted free of charge. The attendant will direct you to the proper location for these materials.
Fees for Disposal at the Rome Transfer Site
There are fees for the disposal of certain items at the Rome Transfer Site, including:
- Light bulbs: Under 4’ florescent light bulbs – $2.00 each. Over 4’ florescent light bulbs – $4.00 each.
- Mattresses, recliners & sofas: Crib/Twin $10.00; all other sizes $15.00. Box spring is considered a mattress. Recliner chairs, sofas and love seats are $10.00 each, regardless of size.
- Appliances: An area to dispose of white goods – refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, washers, dryers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers is provided. You MUST check with the attendant BEFORE unloading appliances. The disposal fee is $25.00 per item, including microwaves.
- Tires: The charge to dispose of tires without a rim is $5.00 each; with a rim is $10.00 each.
