Locations and Hours of Operation
There are two waste transfer stations in Wawanesa:
- Oakland Waste Transfer Station
- Location: One mile east on Rd.43N (Treesbank Road) and 1/2mile north on Rd. 109W
- Hours of Operation:
- Summer (May 1 – September 30): Wednesday 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Winter (October 1 – April 30): Wednesday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Every Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Wawanesa Waste Transfer Station
- Location: East on Rd.40N (Commercial Street) 1/2mile past Heritage Coop on the gravel road. It is on the left hand side.
- Hours of Operation:
- Tuesday: 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm
- Thursday: 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Items Accepted
The following items are accepted at both waste transfer stations:
- Bagged household waste
- Household renovation waste
- Used tires
- Scrap metal
- Recycling
- Wood
- Leaves
- Shingles (a fee will be charged)
Items Not Accepted
The following items are not accepted at any waste transfer stations:
- Household hazardous waste (used oils, fluorescent bulbs, paints, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, etc.)
- Commercial hazardous waste (solvents, paints, acids, corrosives, glues, etc.)
- Agricultural pesticide and herbicide containers
- E-waste
- Used medical needles
- Commercial construction/demolition waste
- Propane tanks or any pressurized gas cylinders
- Manure
- Dead animals
