CSWD Leaf Dump Hours

To accommodate your busy schedule, CSWD has extended leaf dump hours at designated facilities during the fall season:

Acceptable and Unacceptable Items

To ensure the proper disposal and composting of yard debris, CSWD accepts the following items:

  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Non-woody garden and yard debris

Please note that the following items are not accepted at CSWD leaf dump sites:

  • Plastic bags
  • Rocks
  • Sod
  • Trash
  • Pumpkins

Drop-Off Guidelines

For a smooth and efficient leaf drop-off experience, please adhere to these guidelines:

  • Collection will take place in designated leaf bunkers located outside the Drop-Off Centers.
  • There will be no access to other areas on special leaf collection dates.
  • Trailers and dumping mechanisms are allowed at the Organics Recycling Facility only on these special leaf collection dates.
  • No dumping mechanisms are allowed at the Drop-Off Centers.
  • The 6 cubic yard per trip limit applies to all facilities.

Additional Leaf Drop-Off Options

In addition to CSWD’s designated leaf dump sites, you can also dispose of leaves at the following locations:

  • Burlington Public Works Curbside Leaf Pick-Up: Please note that CSWD does not pick up leaves. Leaves will be picked up the week of November 13-17. Visit the Burlington Public Works website for full details.
  • CSWD Organics Recycling Facility: This is the preferred location to bring leaves and yard waste, as virtually all leaves collected in Chittenden County are processed here into Green Mountain Compost products.
  • CSWD Drop-Off Centers: Essex, Hinesburg, Milton, and South Burlington locations accept leaves and yard waste. Please visit the specific location page for limitations, fees, and additional information.
  • McNeil Wood & Yard Waste Depot: Accepts natural wood and leaves.
