Trash Pick Up Schedule in North Port

The Solid Waste Division of the Public Works Department manages trash collection services for North Port residents. Garbage is collected once per week, with specific guidelines to ensure efficient and effective waste management.

Residential Trash Collection

All garbage must be placed in a city-issued garbage tote. Residents should:

• Bag loose garbage before placing it in the tote
• Ensure the tote lid can fully close
• Place totes at the designated collection point
• Limit tote weight to 200 pounds maximum

Recycling Services

Recycling is mandatory in North Port. The city provides two recycling totes:

• One for paper products
• One for commingled glass, plastic, and cans
• Collection rotates between totes weekly

Bulk & Large Item Pick Up

Each residence receives two free bulk pickups per fiscal year (October 1 – September 30):

• Limit of 5 cubic yards per pickup (approximately 5′ x 5′ x 5′)
• Alternatively, one free pickup of up to 10 cubic yards
• Additional pickups available for $18.15 per cubic yard plus an $18.15 admin fee

Yard Waste & Seasonal Services

Yard waste is collected weekly along with regular trash collection. During hurricane seasons, the city provides specific debris collection guidelines, separating waste into six categories:

• Household hazardous waste
• Electronics
• Appliances
• Construction & demolition debris
• Vegetative debris
• Everyday household trash

Holiday Trash Pick Up Changes

North Port Solid Waste does not collect trash on these holidays:

• New Year’s Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving
• Christmas Day

When holidays fall during the week, collection is delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
