St. Johns County Dump Locations and Hours

There are two dump locations in St. Johns County:

  • Tillman Ridge Transfer Station
    • Address: 3005 Allen Nease Rd, Elkton, FL 32033
    • Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 am – 6 pm; Saturday, 7 am – 1 pm
  • Stratton Rd Transfer Station
    • Address: 250 North Stratton Rd, St. Augustine, FL 32095
    • Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 am – 6 pm; Saturday, 7 am – 1 pm

Fees

The fees for dumping at the St. Johns County dumps are as follows:

  • DISPOSAL FEE – $64.12 per ton (prorated at $0.04/lb. and can be paid in Cash or Check ONLY)
  • Oil-based paint – $3.15 / fluid gallon
  • Latex paint – $2.10 / fluid gallon
  • Fluorescent light bulbs – 55 cents each / 2-4ft bulbs | $1.05 each / 6-8ft bulbs
  • Waste Tires – $2.65 per tire up to 10 tires, after 10 is $210.00 / ton
  • Pressure-treated wood – $64.12 / ton
  • Residential construction & demolition debris – $64.12 / ton
  • Yard Waste – $64.12 / ton

Items Accepted for Free

The following items are accepted for free at the St. Johns County dumps:

  • Cardboard boxes can be flattened and taken to the Cardboard Recycling Drop-Off Center at either the Tillman Ridge or Stratton Road Transfer Station, free of charge. No other recyclables will be accepted at the Drop-Off Center at this time.
  • Household Hazardous Waste can be dropped off free of charge at either transfer station. Items include motor oil, oil filters, gasoline, wax, cleaners, soap, pool chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, grout, aerosol cans, antifreeze, adhesives, flea dip, car & appliance batteries, polishes, lubricants, muriatic acid, propane gas cylinders, solvents, thinner, transmission fluid, brake fluid, lighter fluid, fire extinguishers, linseed oil, naval jelly, photo chemicals, etc. Fuel must be transported in an approved container, and the container may need to be left at the drop-off center.
  • Obsolete Electronics include monitors, televisions, CPUs, laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, keyboards, mice, cables, game hardware, UPS units, external drives, modems, phones, pagers, radios, stereos, VCR’s, tape players, speakers, small kitchen appliances, power tools, health, and beauty appliances.

Items Not Accepted

The following items are not accepted at the St. Johns County dumps:

  • Asbestos
  • Batteries (lead-acid)
  • Biomedical waste
  • Explosives
  • Infectious waste
  • Medical waste
  • Nuclear waste
  • Radioactive waste
  • Sewage
  • Sharps

Additional Information

  • The dumps are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
  • Residents of St. Johns County with proof of residence (driver’s license with your current St. Johns County address) can bring items to either transfer station. (Fees may apply)
