Accepted Materials at Transfer Stations
The following materials are accepted at all transfer stations except Thunder Lake:
- Household garbage
- Electronics
- Propane bottles
- Empty plastic oil jugs
- Oil filters*
- Tires*
- Metals (all types)*
- Burnables*
- Appliances*
- Empty paint cans*
*Items marked with an asterisk are not accepted at Thunder Lake.
Prohibited Materials at Transfer Stations
The following materials are prohibited at all transfer stations:
- Demolition materials (including concrete, shingles, drywall, fill, etc.)
- Non-burnable materials (including treated lumber, furniture, plastics, etc.)
- Chemical containers
- Used oil
These materials can be disposed of at the Barrhead Regional Landfill.
Take It or Leave It at Dunstable Transfer Station
The Dunstable Transfer Station features a “Take It or Leave It” area where residents can drop off or pick up gently used items.
Items Accepted:
- All items must be in good condition.

- Batteries
- Propane bottles
- Mattresses
- Carpet or linoleum

- Tuesdays: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Wednesday – Saturdays: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

- Used oil is accepted on Thursdays only.
