Broadway Dump Hours of Operation

The Broadway Dump is open to all unincorporated (outside the City of Sanford and the Town of Broadway) county residents. The hours of operation are as follows:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday: CLOSED

Please note that the dump is closed on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Acceptable Materials at the Broadway Dump

The Broadway Dump accepts a wide range of materials, including:

  • Residential Household Garbage (bagged)
  • Residential Trash (furniture, mattresses, bulky waste items)
  • Recyclables (see below for a list)
  • Used Motor Oil, Oil Filters, Crankcase Drainings, Hydraulic Fluids, Transmission Fluids, Diesel Fuel, and Kerosene
  • Anti-freeze
  • Appliances and Scrap Metal

Recyclables Accepted at the Broadway Dump

The Broadway Dump also accepts a variety of recyclables, including:

  • Aluminum beverage cans
  • Cardboard, chipboard
  • Dryers
  • Ferrous metal (steel, cast iron, wrought iron)
  • Glass food and beverage containers
  • Household batteries (i.e., AA, AAA, 9V)
  • Newspaper, magazines, telephone books, greeting cards
  • Plastic Bags (i.e., Wal-Mart and Food Lion bags)
  • Plastic (Only plastics marked with the numbers 1, 2, or 5 on the base)
  • Steel and bi-metal cans
  • Used motor oil
  • Washing machines

Unacceptable Materials at the Broadway Dump

The following materials are not accepted at the Broadway Dump:

  • Commercial, Industrial, or Institutional Waste
  • Construction & Demolition wastes
  • Used Tires (5 or less are accepted at the Resource Management Facility)
  • Fluorescent Lightbulbs (accepted at the Resource Management Facility)
  • Latex Paint (accepted at the Resource Management Facility)
  • Yard Waste, Stumps, Logs, or Brush (accepted at the Resource Management Facility)
  • Household Hazardous Waste
  • Medical or Infectious Waste
  • Dead Animals
  • Sealed Tanks or Drums (must have holes to ensure no liquids or gases remain)
  • Propane Tanks (contact Blossman Gas, Inc., or watch for Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day)
