Canton Transfer Station Hours of Operation
The Canton Transfer Station is open to residents during the following hours:
- Tuesday and Saturday: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Thursday: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (September 16th – April 14th)
- Thursday: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (April 15th – September 15th)
The Transfer Station is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and holidays.
Fees
There is an annual fee of $150 for residents to use the Transfer Station. This fee allows residents to dispose of household trash, recyclables, and bulky waste.
In addition to the annual fee, there are also fees for certain items, such as:
- Unacceptable mattresses or box springs: $30 each
- Regular tires: $5 each
- Truck tires: $15 each
- Brush:
- Car: $5
- Mini Van, Pick-up and/or 8 Foot Trailer: $10
- Greater than 8 Foot Trailer and/or Dump Truck: $20
Acceptable Materials
The Canton Transfer Station accepts the following materials:
- Household trash
- Single stream recyclables (paper, cardboard, plastic, metal)
- Propane tanks
- Scrap metal
- White goods with/without Freon
- Waste motor oil & anti-freeze
- Leaves
- Brush
- Christmas trees (free of charge through January 31st)
Unacceptable Materials
The Canton Transfer Station does not accept the following materials:
- Hazardous waste
- Medical waste
- Electronics
- Batteries
- Construction debris
Additional Information
- The Transfer Station is located on Ramp Road, adjacent to Powder Mill Road and Route 202.
- Residents can purchase annual permit stickers for use of the Transfer Station at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours.
- Residents can also purchase a special permit to allow a contractor to dispose of bulky waste on their behalf.
- The Transfer Station has a “Swap Shack” where residents can drop off or pick up gently used items.
- The Transfer Station does not accept cash. Payments can be made by check, debit card, or credit card.
