Dane County Dump Hours

The Dane County Landfill is open to the public during the following hours:

Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 2:45 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 10:45 AM
Closed: Sundays and Holidays

Please note that the landfill is closed on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Accepted Materials

The Dane County Landfill accepts a wide range of waste materials, including:

  • Municipal solid waste
  • Mattresses & Box Springs
  • Furniture
  • Carpets and pads
  • Stoves, washers, and dryers
  • Construction & demolition debris
  • Tires (rims must be off)
  • Clean shingles (only asphalt shingles, nails, and tar paper)
  • Clean branches (no leaves, grasses, garden debris, or weeds)
  • Logs and wood chips
  • Invasive weeds bagged in clear bags and labeled “Invasive plants – approved by DNR for landfilling.”

Materials NOT Accepted

To conserve airspace and protect the environment, certain materials are not accepted at the Dane County Landfill. These include:

  • Freon containing appliances or dishwashers
  • Propane tanks
  • Cardboard
  • Aluminum containers
  • Yard waste (leaves, rootballs, stumps, grass, garden debris & weeds)
  • Waste oil
  • Toxic chemicals
  • Electronics

Special Waste Disposal
