Trash Pick Up Schedule in Dearborn
Dearborn follows a structured waste collection schedule that operates Monday through Friday. Public Service Days, which run from March 3 through December 8, 2025, are designed to provide consistent and comprehensive waste management for all neighborhoods.
Residential Trash Collection
Residents are provided with two primary carts for waste disposal:
Gray Trash Cart
Items to dispose of in the gray cart include:
- Household trash
- Styrofoam
- Wood
- Clothing and fabrics
- Seasonal organic decor
- Plants
Green Recycling Cart
Recyclable items include:
- Junk mail and paper bags
- Newspapers and magazines
- Steel, tin, and aluminum cans
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Cardboard (must be broken down)
- Clean glass bottles
- Household plastic and metal items
Bulk & Large Item Pick Up
Dearborn offers convenient bulk item collection:
- Households limited to 5 bulk items per week
- Maximum of 20 bulk items per year
- Carpet and padding limited to 10 rolls weekly
- Maximum 30 carpet rolls annually
- Excessive pickups available for a $100 minimum charge
Yard Waste & Seasonal Services
Yard waste collection runs from March 18 through December 20:
- Use 20-32 gallon containers with yard waste stickers
- Free yard waste stickers available at:

Holiday Trash Pick Up Changes
Priority Waste observes six major holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
If your service day falls on or after a holiday, pickup will be delayed by one day.
