Accepted Materials
The Hoods Mill Dump accepts a wide variety of materials, including:
- Household waste
- Yard trim
- Concrete/asphalt (smaller than 6″ in diameter)
- Fluorescent bulbs and tubes
- Latex paint cans
- Automobile parts
- Motor oil and antifreeze (up to 5 gallons/week/resident)
- Sealed drums, large closed containers, and tanks
- Large slabs of iron, steel, and other intact bulky wastes
- Pipe over 4′ in length or 4″ in diameter
- Dead animals
- Rotted railroad ties, wooden skids, and remodeling debris
- Tires (5 per year/per household)
- Rigid plastic
- White goods (scrap metal, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, etc.)
Fees
There are no fees for disposing of household waste, yard trim, or motor oil and antifreeze. However, there are fees for disposing of other materials, such as:
- Concrete/asphalt: $69/ton
- Construction and demolition debris: $80/ton
- Automobile flat rate: $8/load
- Fluorescent bulbs and tubes: $0.50/each
- Latex paint cans: $0.50/each
- Tires: $2.50/rim, $3.50/each (on rim), 33″ limit each
Prohibited Materials
The Hoods Mill Dump does not accept the following materials:
- Explosive/combustible materials
- Pathological/infectious or other medical wastes
- Radioactive and other hazardous wastes
- Electric arc furnace dust
- “Free liquids”
- Sludges & similar residual wastes
- Tree stumps
- Logs & brush greater than 4″ in diameter & 8′ in length
- Hot ashes or any material that shows evidence of smoking, smoldering, burning
- Concrete slabs/curbing, brick bats, stone or similar materials greater than 6″ in dimension
