Convenience Center Hours
Knox County’s convenience centers are open to residents for waste and recycling drop-off during the following hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The centers are closed on Wednesdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Holiday Schedule
The convenience centers will be closed on the following holidays in 2023:

What Can Be Recycled?
Knox County convenience centers offer comprehensive recycling options for residents. You can drop off the following items for recycling:
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Metal cans
- Glass bottles and jars
What Can’t Be Recycled?
Some materials are not accepted at the convenience centers. These include:
- Hazardous waste
- Medical waste
- Electronics
- Tires
- Construction debris

Fees
There are no fees to use the Knox County convenience centers. However, businesses and contractors may be charged a fee for disposal of certain types of waste.
Additional Information
- The convenience centers are for residential use only. Businesses and contractors must dispose of their waste at a commercial waste disposal facility.
- There is a limit of one standard 5×8 pickup truck load of non-recyclable household waste per household per day.
- Heaping loads and very large trailers will be turned away.
- If you have a large amount of waste that exceeds the daily limit, you will need to dispose of it at a commercial waste disposal facility.
