Lower Township Dump Hours

The Lower Township Recycling Center is located at 771 Seashore Road, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. The hours of operation are as follows:

  • Tuesday through Saturday: 7:00 am – 2:45 pm
  • Closed Sunday and Monday

What You Can Bring to the Lower Township Dump

The Lower Township Recycling Center accepts a variety of household waste, including:

  • Household trash: Refrigerator garbage, Styrofoam, shredded paper, etc.
  • Household recyclables: Plastics, aluminum cans, glass, cardboard, papers.
  • Household appliances: Refrigerator, air conditioner, emptied lawnmowers, BBQ grills, metal vacuum cleaners, metal poles (without concrete), etc.
  • Branches: Seven (7) feet in length & six (6) inches in diameter or less.
  • Leaves: Garden debris, grass clippings.
  • Rechargeable batteries: Drop off inside Lower Township Recycling Center office during business hours. Single-use batteries can be placed in trash.

What You Cannot Bring to the Lower Township Dump

The Lower Township Recycling Center does not accept the following items:

  • Bulk items: Furniture, mattress/box spring, picnic tables, etc.
  • Hazardous waste: Paint, Gas, Kerosene, Anti-freeze, etc.
  • Tires
  • Building material: Shingles, lumber, sheetrock, paneling, wood, pallets, windows, doors, garage doors, toilets, etc.
  • Railroad ties and landscaping ties
  • Concrete: Bricks and cinderblocks.
  • Stumps: Larger than 6” in diameter
  • Carpeting: Padding
  • Propane tanks
  • Auto batteries
  • Electronics

Non-acceptable items are accepted at the CMCMUA Transfer Station. May require a fee- For information. (609) 465-9026.

How to Prepare Your Waste for Disposal

To ensure that your waste is disposed of properly, please follow these guidelines:

  • Household trash: Place household trash in sturdy garbage bags.
  • Household recyclables: Rinse out food and beverage containers before recycling. Flatten cardboard boxes to save space.
  • Household appliances: Drain all fluids from appliances before bringing them to the dump.
  • Branches: Cut branches into smaller pieces to make them easier to handle.
  • Leaves: Place leaves in biodegradable bags or containers.
  • Rechargeable batteries: Place rechargeable batteries in a sealed plastic bag.

Additional Information

  • Proof of residency is required to use the Lower Township Recycling Center.
  • Limit one (1) vehicle sticker per household.
  • Lost stickers will not be replaced.
  • Stickers must be affixed to vehicle, if not, proof of residency must be provided.
