McDowell County Transfer Station

The McDowell County Transfer Station is located at 3809 NC 226 South in Marion, NC. It accepts solid waste from industries, municipal and county waste collection facilities, and residential sources.

Hours of Operation:

• Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Fees:

• $65 per ton with a $5 minimum for all household/residential waste, yard waste, construction & demolition, and commercial/industrial/business/residential waste.
• Tire Fees:
  • Passenger tires: $4
  • Big truck tires: $6
  • Farm tractor: $7
  • Heavy Equipment: $30

The Transfer Station also accepts credit/debit cards with an additional fee of $3 or 3%, whichever is greater.

McDowell County Convenience Centers

In addition to the Transfer Station, McDowell County operates seven Convenience Centers for the collection of solid waste and recyclables. The locations and hours of operation are as follows:

Additional Services:

• The 226 South Site accepts used motor oil.
