Accepted Materials
Both North and South Transfer Stations accept a wide range of materials, including:
- Recyclables (paper, plastic, metal, glass)
- Garbage
- Clean yard waste
- Clean wood waste
- Vehicle tires
- Appliances (no commercial appliances)
- Household sharps
Not Accepted Materials
The following items are not accepted at Seattle’s transfer stations:
- Sewage
- Household chemicals
- Radioactive and hazardous waste (and containers)
- Ammo, firearms, fireworks, flares, explosives, weapons
- Sealed drums, fuel/propane or oil tanks, compressed gas cylinders, fire extinguishers
- Electronics, TVs or monitors (CRTs)
- Furnace parts, wood stoves, duct work
- Asbestos, or material containing asbestos
- Material over 8 ft long and over 200 lbs
- Dead animals over 15 lbs (call animal control)

You can pay for your disposal fees at Seattle’s transfer stations using the following methods:
