Are you looking for a reliable and convenient way to dispose of your unwanted items in South Dundas? Look no further than the Matilda Landfill, the sole operational landfill in the Municipality of South Dundas.
Matilda Landfill Hours of Operation
The Matilda Landfill is open to the public during the following hours:
- Tuesday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Please note that the landfill is closed on all statutory holidays.
Landfill Fees
The Matilda Landfill charges a minimum fee of $10.00 per trip. In addition to the minimum fee, there are surcharges for different load sizes and types of waste. Here is a breakdown of the fees:

Additional Surcharges:
- Appliances with Refrigerant: $35.00
- Mattress or Box spring: $20.00
- Couch, Chair, Recliner, etc.: $15.00
- Carpet Rolls: $10.00

After-Hours Disposal
The Matilda Landfill offers after-hours disposal services on Tuesday-Saturday from 4pm-8pm and on Monday & Sunday. However, these services come with an additional charge:
- Minimum Charge: $40.00
- Charge per hour: $80.00
Prohibited Items
The Matilda Landfill does not accept the following items:
- Household Hazardous Waste
- Large branches, brush and wood
- Garbage
- Compostable materials
- Leaf and yard waste
Accepted Items
The Matilda Landfill accepts a wide range of waste materials, including:
- Regular household waste
- Construction and demolition debris
- Electronics
- Tires
