Hours of Operation:
- Open daily, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Wake County residents only
Acceptable Items:
- Cardboard
- Clean, dry, flattened, all packing materials removed.
- Clothing
- Clean, dry and reusable clothing and shoes only. No linens. Bag all items.
- Construction Debris
- Wood, drywall, shingles, carpet, tiles. No concrete or pavers. Homeowners only. Contractors and tenants refer to Resources page for list of private Construction and Demolition Landfills.
- Food Waste
- Food scraps and leftovers; fruits and vegetables, tea leaves, coffee grounds, baked goods, eggs and dairy, cooked meats, pizza boxes, paper towels and paper plates. NO raw meat. No food packaging.
- Garbage
- Household trash, furniture, mattresses. Under 8 feet long or wide.
- Mixed Recycling
- Metal: food and drink cans. Glass: bottles and jars. Mixed paper: paperboard, food and beverage cartons, junk mail, newspapers, phone books and magazines (no shredded paper). Plastic: bottles, jugs, jars and tubs (caps on, no foam). Keep loose, DO NOT BAG.
- Oyster Shells
- From homes and restaurants.
- Scrap Metal
- Bicycles, grills, sinks, ladders, pipes, rims, push mowers (remove fluids).

North Wake Landfill
Address: 9300 Deponie Drive, Raleigh, NC 27614
Hours of Operation:
- Open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset. Check sign at park entrance for sunset/closing time.
- Closed: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Additional Information:
- The North Wake Landfill is no longer accepting waste and is under post-closure maintenance.
- The landfill has been converted into Green Hills County Park, which is open to visitors during park hours.
- The park includes an elementary school, an athletic and community recreation complex, and a dog park.
