Trash Pick Up Schedule in Isle of Palms
The City of Isle of Palms offers two distinct collection schedules depending on the season:
September 3, 2024 – May 30, 2025 (Once Per Week Collection)
- Monday: Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
- Tuesday: 30th Avenue through Wild Dunes
- Wednesday-Friday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous Services
June 2, 2025 – August 30, 2025 (Twice Per Week Collection)
- Monday: Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
- Tuesday: 30th Avenue through Wild Dunes
- Wednesday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous
- Thursday: Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
- Friday: 30th Avenue through Wild Dunes
Residential Trash Collection Guidelines
Placement and Timing
- Garbage carts may only be placed curbside after 5:00 p.m. the night before pickup
- Containers must be removed from sight by 9:00 a.m. the day after collection
Recycling and Yard Waste Services
Acceptable Yard Debris
- Routine landscaping materials
- Leaves and grass clippings
- Logs and limbs (up to 4 feet long, 4 inches in diameter)
- Must be in biodegradable bags
- Cannot be mixed with regular garbage
Miscellaneous Acceptable Items
- Furniture
- Large appliances (refrigerators, washing machines)
- Bed mattresses
Holiday Trash Pick Up Changes
If a holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, service will be delayed by one day. Holidays include:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Presidents’ Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veteran’s Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
2025 Specific Holiday Schedule
- July 4, 2025: Service will occur on Tuesday, July 8, 2025
- July 7: Service will proceed as scheduled for Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
Unacceptable Items
Residents cannot dispose of:
- Contractor-generated building materials
- Roofing shingles
- Hazardous waste
- Tires and batteries
- Motor oil
- Auto parts
- Concrete and gravel
