Acceptable Items

The Fewster Dump accepts a wide range of items for disposal, including:

  • Household hazardous waste: Batteries, paint, pesticides, motor oil, and more.
  • Recyclable materials: Paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass.
  • Reusable items: Clothing, furniture, and appliances.
  • Other acceptable items (fees apply):
    • Garbage
    • Residential yard waste
    • Clean fill (soil, sod, topsoil, clay, sand)
    • Construction, renovation, and demolition material (insulation must be double-bagged. Asbestos is NOT accepted)

Fees

There is a minimum fee of $6 for loads of chargeable items. Anything over the $6 load will be charged at 12.8 cents per kg.

Dedicated loads of recycling, metals, electronics, and appliances are accepted for free.

Drop-off Guidelines

To ensure a safe and efficient experience at the Fewster Dump, please follow these guidelines:

  • All waste and recyclables taken to the dump must originate in Peel.
  • Ensure that children under 12 stay in the vehicle while you’re unloading your waste items.
  • Properly secure your loads.
  • Dispose of your materials in the appropriate bin.
  • Do not stand on walls or guardrails while unloading waste items.
  • Be careful when throwing waste into bins.
  • Do not scavenge.

Proof of Residence

For residents, acceptable documents providing proof of residence include:

  • A driver’s license
  • A water, gas, or electricity bill
  • An internet or phone bill
  • Your municipal tax bill
  • A lease agreement (valid up to a year)

For small businesses, an original signed letter on company letterhead.
For contractors, a signed contract or work order with a Peel address referencing the company vehicle.

Acceptable and Unacceptable Transport Vehicles

Vehicles accessing the Fewster Dump must meet certain requirements.

Acceptable vehicles:

  • Cars, vans, and pick-up trucks.
  • Vehicles with trailers (maximum 12 m (40 ft) long).
  • Box trucks and cube vans (maximum 5 m (16 ft) long).
  • Vehicles with a total gross weight less than 5 tonnes (combined weight of vehicle and load).

Unacceptable vehicles:

  • Dump trucks
  • Stake trucks
  • Roll-off trucks
  • Garbage packer trucks
  • Tractor trailers
  • Any vehicle heavier than 5 tonnes (gross weight)

Additional Information

  • For health and safety reasons, the Fewster Dump cannot accept walk-ins, bicycle traffic, or e-bikes on the platform.
  • You may walk or ride a bike to drop off items at the Reuse or Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) areas of the Fewster Dump.
  • Backyard composters are sold from April to June at the Fewster Dump (while quantities last).
  • Confidential paper shredding events are held at the Fewster Dump on designated days throughout the year.
