New Britain Transfer Station Hours of Operation
The New Britain Transfer Station is located at 642 Christian Lane, New Britain, CT 06051. It is open to the public during the following hours:
- Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM – 2:15 PM
- 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month (April through October): 7:00 AM – 11:45 AM
- Every Saturday in November: 7:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Note: The Transfer Station is closed on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Presidents’ Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Veterans Day

Acceptable Waste Types
The New Britain Transfer Station accepts a wide range of waste types, including:
- Construction and demolition debris
- Municipal solid waste
- Yard waste
Please note: Hazardous waste, such as medical sharps, oil-based paints, solvents, and lead acid batteries, cannot be disposed of at the Transfer Station. Fees
The New Britain Transfer Station charges a fee for the disposal of certain waste types. The fees are as follows:
- General waste (household trash, construction debris, etc.): $160.00 per ton (minimum transaction fee of $10 for up to 100 lbs, $20 for 101 lbs to 240 lbs)
- Mattresses: $25.00 each
- Electronics: Free of charge
- Metal waste: Free of charge
