Dump Hours

The Saugus DPW operates a compost area behind the Public Works building at 515 Main Street. The compost area is open to Saugus residents only and requires proof of residency.

Compost Area Hours:

  • Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • April – December

Note: The compost area is closed on Sundays and holidays.

Fees

  • Compost area sticker: $25 (check or money order only)

Acceptable Materials

The compost area accepts the following materials:

  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Yard waste
  • Small branches

Prohibited Materials

The compost area does not accept the following materials:

  • Household trash
  • Food scraps
  • Animal waste

  • Street sweeping: Street sweeping is done annually starting in the spring. Sweeping starts with Precincts 1 through 10 and usually lasts 4-5 weeks ending before Memorial Day.
  • Snow removal: The Saugus DPW is responsible for snow plowing and ice control on all public roads in the town. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the town’s snow removal notification system to receive updates on snow removal operations.
  • Water and sewer: Although the DPW maintains the water and sewer systems in Saugus, all billing for these utilities is carried out by the Treasurer’s office located at Town Hall.
