  • Limit: 10 bags or bundles of yard debris per pickup day
  • Size restrictions: Cutting and tree branches must be tied and bundled, not exceeding 60 inches in length or 3 inches in diameter. Bags and/or bundles should not weigh more than 35 pounds.

Spring Community Cleanup Day:

Each year, the Town of Smithfield hosts a Spring Community Cleanup Day. During this event, residents can dispose of large items and recyclables free of charge. Dates and areas of service are announced on the Town’s website.

Recycling:

Effective January 16th, 2021, curbside recycling collection has been discontinued in the Town of Smithfield. However, residents can still recycle household waste by following the Isle of Wight County’s Refuse & Recycling Center User Guide.

Holidays:

The Isle of Wight Transfer Station will be closed on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If a collection day falls on any of these holidays, the collection day will be rescheduled to the following day.
