Barrington residents receive trash collection services through Groot Industries, Inc. All refuse and recyclables are collected on FRIDAY. Residents must:
- Place containers at the curb before 6:30 a.m.
- Not place containers in the street
- Remove empty bins promptly after pickup
- Limit container placement to 24 hours before collection

Each single-family home is provided with:
- 65-gallon container for recyclable materials
- Accepted recyclables include:

Groot offers free electronic waste pickup:
- Unlimited electronic items accepted

- 24-hour advance notice required
- Includes computers, monitors, game consoles, printers, TVs, DVD players
Bulk & Large Item Pick Up
Groot will collect:
- Furniture
- Swing sets (max 4 ft length)
- Bicycles
- Carpeting (tied in 4 ft bundles)
- Limited to one large item per pickup
Yard Waste & Seasonal Services
- 95-gallon wheeled cart provided
- Yard waste collection from mid-March to mid-December
- Accepted materials: grass clippings, weeds, leaves, small twigs
- Yard waste must be in provided cart or biodegradable bags
Residential Food Scrap Composting
- Year-round program
- Use 95-gallon compost cart
- Scheduling required mid-December through mid-March
- Helps reduce landfill waste and produce healthy soil

- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
During holiday weeks, pickup moves to Saturday.
